Doggy Dash Winner Photos are HERE!
Once upon a time there was an SPCA Doggy Dash event where dogs ran, played, swam, and sniffed. Oh what a day. On that very day, I had a booth with some of my artwork displayed, and a raffle with the grand prize being a gift basket, and oh what a gift basket it was. Here were the contents:
One Free Photography Session
$100 Product Credit
Fresh baked dog treats from Midtown’s Paws and the Palette bakery
An adorable squeaky pink elephant, also from Paws and the Palette
Well after some emailing and phone calls back and forth, we finally had our photo session. Renae, her daughter Daniela, and her 2 Vizslas, Vivienne and Achilles, were fabulous hosts for our session at their home. What is a Vizsla you ask? Well so did I. Apparently they are beautiful, elegant, energetic, and sweet dogs, that’s what they are. Also, according to the American Kennel Club, they are originally from Hungary and are known for their work as a pointer and retriever. While there was no pointing or much retrieving going on, there were lots of kisses, running, playing, and then some napping.
One of the most common concerns from people about my coming over for a photo session is that their dog “won’t sit still”. Well there was certainly no sitting still with these guys - initially. But patience is the name of the game. And during the tomfoolery of the initial excitement over company being there, some pretty entertaining photos often emerge. And then eventually, everybody wears down (OK, including me) and then comes the napping (not me).
Why is a napping dog SO cute?? I can’t count how many photos of my sweet Maggie I have when she is napping. People say the same about babies, but I didn’t get that gene. But sleeping dogs? Cats? I can’t stop myself.
So all in all a fabulous day, and some fun and gorgeous photos. And now the artwork is in production and on its way!
Thanks Renae, Daniela, Vivienne and Achilles for inviting me over and letting me follow you around for a couple of hours. I can’t think of a better way to spend a morning! (or afternoon, or evening…)
